Trekking the Lycian East Coast

The Lycian Way is Turkey s first long distance footpath. Over 500 kilometres of fine walking along the south coast between Antalya and Fethiye. The combination of coastal and mountainous sceneries makes the Lycian Way, according to the Sunday Times 'One of the 10 best walks in the world'.

This is our most popular itinerary with 5 days of fine walking between 5 to 8 hours each day. The Route follows the most dramatic part of the Lycian way, plus an optional climb up MT.Olympos.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Arrival Antalya Airport

Transfer 75 minutes to Gedelme Village
Free Time for Village and Castle visit

Day 2: Göynük Plateau to Canyon

We trek on an ancient path mainly down the valley of the Göynük stream, Crossing the water and climbing through pine forests. The are great stops for a picnic along the stream. At the end there is chance to refresh in the crystal clear waters of the Göynük Canyon. The group meets the bus at the National Park Facilities of Göynük, and transfer back to Gedelme Village (40min.)

Day 3: MT.Olympos Pass

We start walking at Yayla Kuzdere (20 min. from Gedelme), a small village settled high on the side of Mount Olympos. Trek up zigzags through cedar forests, with marvellous views of the mountain (950m ascent). Picnic lunch is on the Cukuryayla pass (alt. 1950m), in the shadow of giant cedar trees.
Here starts the optional climb up to the summit. The pass is covered in snow during winter and spring, so you should have appropriate shoes for this. The descent to the village of Beycik goes through a fairytale forest and offers great views of the coast. At the village teahouse of Beycik we meet the bus and drive (70min.) on to Adrasan and check in to our next hotel.
Please notice that we have snow on the pass until mid-may so waterproof and strong boots are recommended.

Day 4: Free Day in Adrasan

Optional activities like Mountain biking, Canyoning and a Chimera evening visit can be organized on demand.

Day 5: MT Musa and Olympos

The group hikes today through a lunch pine forest up to the Pass of Mt. Musa. After a great picnic it goes down in a complete different flora to the Ancient city of Olympos. Up to the groups choice and timing here is a choice between swimming at the beach or a little sightseeing in the jungle
like ruins.

Day 6: Adrasan to Lighthouse

The first one hour of the day starts with an uphill out of Adrasan valley, once we reach the top, great views are waiting for us. The trek continues undulating through pine forest with great Mediterranean views and descends to the famous Lighthouse of Gelidonya. Here we have a big rest and enjoy the unique panorama. From the Lighthouse to the bus, it’s just a 45min stroll down the hill if the timing is rirght we can have a swim-break in the Pirates Bay of Karaoz.

Day 7: Sazak Bay - Hike & Boat

This day is easier then our classic walks. It goes along the coast of Adrasan to the neighbour bay with stunning views all the way. At the end is the lovely Sazak bay waiting for a swim. It is recommended to return by boat from the bay.
